Enhanced Fluid Recovery (EFR) is a technique that applies a vacuum to a well point to remove impacted groundwater and volatilize adsorbed oil or gasoline products from the soils.  The vacuum is typically applied for two to eight hours before allowing the aquifer to find equilibrium.  Successive EFR events decrease the groundwater concentrations to allowable levels for case closure.
